<p>SCRANTON &#8212; A Pittston man was sentenced this week in federal court for his role in a drug conspiracy.</p><p>Richard Chalmers, 41, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion to 96 months, or eight years, in prison.</p><p>Chalmers was indicted by a federal grand jury on Oct. 25, 2016, on charges that he conspired to distribute approximately 60 grams of heroin throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, roughly equivalent to 2,400 doses of heroin.</p><p>Chalmers, whose criminal activity ran between the months of February and April 2016, pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement struck Jan. 24.</p><p>According to a press release from the Department of Justice, Chalmers&#8217; case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, State Police and both the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre Police Departments.</p><style>
