YORK &#8212; The Crestwood golf team made its state debut on Wednesday, but came up short of the ultimate goal.The Comets finished in sixth place out of six teams in the PIAA Class 3A Golf Championships at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center.The District 2 champ Comets finished with a respectable score of 314, but Unionville walked away as state champs in Class 3A with a phenomenal score of 292 thanks to three of the six lowest rounds on the day; the team finished four strokes better than runner-up Central York.C.J. Bono carded 74 to lead Crestwood&#8217;s scorers and was the sixth-best score on the day. Shane Angle, who finished one stroke shy of earning a state medal a day earlier, scored 76. Jeremy Harper and Drew Barno followed with 82s.Also from District 2 in Class 2A, Scranton Prep finished as state runner-up shooting a score of 322 with Sewickley Academy (311) taking the title.In Class 3A girls, District 2 champion North Pocono was sixth out of six teams with a score of 302. The girls 3A champion was District 7s North Allegheny shooting 240.VOLLEYBALLMMI Prep 3, GAR 0MMI Prep finished its final conference match of the season 25-20, 25-6, 25-13 against GAR.The Preppers&#8217; Lauryn Banyas led with 21 assists, six kills and four service points, Maddey Perchak had 14 kills, eight service points, and four digs and Gabby Kupsho added 30 service points, and six kills and digs.Banyas amassed 1147 career assists, which set a new school record.
