<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; After being convicted this summer on gun charges in relation to a string of taxi robberies, a Wilkes-Barre man was found guilty this week of another weapons-related count.</p><p>Dashawn McLendon, 23, was convicted Thursday on a felony charge of possessing a firearm as a felon.</p><p>Court records show it took a jury only about 45 minutes to reach a decision.</p><p>Sentencing for McLendon was set for Nov. 9. He was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.</p><p>The charge was severed from the <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/673028/defense-for-attempted-murder-suspect-they-charged-the-wrong-person" target="_blank">August trial</a> of McLendon and his brother, Ibn McClain, 17. The brothers were convicted of a series of gun charges but cleared of attempted murder.</p><p>They are still facing multiple charges from a 2015 robbery spree that focused mostly on city taxi drivers. They were tried in August only on charges relating to victim Ian Nieves.</p><p>Prosecutors said the brothers intended to kill Nieves, shooting him twice in his car after giving the brothers a ride.</p><p>&#8220;The defendants had every intention of killing (Nieves) that night,&#8221; prosecutor Mamie Phillips said. &#8220;Only it didn&#8217;t work out, and not for lack of trying.&#8221;</p><p>The brothers&#8217; defense argued the shooting was in self-defense after a drug deal went bad.</p><p>Both were convicted of possession of a firearm without a license, with McClain also being convicted of aggravated assault and firearm possession as a minor. </p><p>In <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/676630/wilkes-barre-faces-20-years-in-jail-for-robberies-of-cab-drivers" target="_blank">September</a>, McLendon also pleaded guilty to an unrelated drug possession count.</p><p>McLendon and McClain will be sentenced for all of these charges Nov. 9. Their sentencing was originally scheduled for Oct. 20, but was moved after a scheduling conflict with Walmart shooter <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/679410/walmart-shooter-found-guilty-of-numerous-charges-facing-decades-in-prison" target="_blank">Scott Sargent</a>&#8217;s trial.</p><p>A trial date for McLendon&#8217;s alleged role in the taxi robberies has yet to be determined.</p><style>
