Union seeks to block ruling so Cowboys’ Elliott can play

<p>WEST PITTSTON &#8212; To the tune of &#8220;Monster Mash,&#8221; the police officer and pirate marched into the auditorium followed by a witch with a pointed hat, a strawberry with big black seeds on her red outfit, Simba the lion, Nemo the little clown fish, Belle the Disney princess and several reptilian creatures who could have been lizards or dinosaurs or dragons.</p><p>&#8220;Roar!&#8221; 2-year-old Eliza Mungold exclaimed into a microphone, leaving little doubt she was a fearsome dragon rather than, say, a happy-go-lucky gecko.</p><p>But nobody seemed really scared Tuesday morning as students from the Work of Art Preschool in Exeter presented a Halloween show in the basement of Immaculate Conception Church in West Pittston.</p><p>Early in the program, director Gina Malsky gave each child a chance to talk about costumes and candy preferences. While there were lots of votes for chocolate, at least one little girl mentioned candy corn and a tiny Superman with sculpted muscles printed on his blue shirt expressed a liking for cream puffs.</p><p>The grande finale was a skit, based on Little Red Riding Hood but incorporating whatever costumes the children had worn.</p><p>Here Wyatt Lewandowski in his police outfit escorted Maya Mead through an imaginary dark forest, scaring away pirate Jackson Berger and &#8220;Donkey Kong&#8221; Joseph Bonomo by spelling B-O-O.</p><p>But there were clues in the script that hinted maybe Maya should beware Wyatt&#8217;s character, too, as when he said he couldn&#8217;t wait &#8220;to eat, I mean meet&#8221; her friends.</p><p>Fortunately, when he met her friends, they included Brayden Lapanski as a troll and Cooper Morgan as a bat. Wouldn&#8217;t you know, Wyatt&#8217;s character, though he was apparently a wolf in police officer&#8217;s garb, was afraid of trolls and bats.</p><p>So nobody was eaten after all.</p><p>We can&#8217;t say the same for the Halloween candy in the treat bags, however.</p><style>
