Who would have thought?The NFL trade deadline would actually be exciting this year.We might have just witnessed the most entertaining and impactful trade deadline in the history of the NFL. Four big names were traded, shaking what we thought we knew about the trade deadline.Of the five deadline-day trades, just three will have a fantasy impact: Jay Ajayi&#8217;s trade to the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelvin Benjamin&#8217;s trade to the Buffalo Bills and Jimmy Garoppolo&#8217;s trade to the San Francisco 49ers.Not only does the Ajayi trade shake up the Miami Dolphins, but it hurts LeGarrette Blount&#8217;s value too. Both players are now low-end RB2s or high-end flex option. This backfield will play similar to the Tennessee Titans, who have DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry, except both players should get even work. I like Kenyan Drake in the Miami backfield.The Benjamin trade does wonders to his value. He&#8217;ll become the No. 1 target for Tyrod Taylor and goes from a low-end WR2 to a high-end WR2 with WR1 upside. He&#8217;ll get so many targets. Taylor is a QB1 moving forward.Back in Carolina, Devin Funchess goes from a WR3 or a flex to a solid WR2.As for Garoppolo, he becomes an interesting streaming option once he&#8217;s ready to take over as the 49ers&#8217; starting quarterback. Definitely a must-add in dynasty leagues.QUARTERBACKMust have: Jared Goff, Los Angeles RamsI&#8217;m going to be honest. I feel weird about this call. Many of the top quarterbacks have the best matchups this week, and, as you know, I tend to stay away from studs. But Goff and the Rams face a staggering New York Giants defense that will be without its top cornerback. Janoris Jenkins is suspended.Pass: Kirk Cousins, Washington RedskinsNo Jordan Reed. No Jamison Crowder. No thanks.Worth a shot: Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis ColtsBrissett is worth a dart throw here. The Houston Texans rank 29th against quarterbacks.RUNNING BACKMust have: Adrian Peterson, Arizona CardinalsNo Carson Palmer and facing a poor 49ers run defense. Yes, please. Peterson is a borderline RB1.Pass: LeGarrette Blount, Philadelphia EaglesSpeaking of Blount, I&#8217;m going to go away from him this week. The Denver Broncos are tremendous against the run. Even if Ajayi wasn&#8217;t in the picture I don&#8217;t think he&#8217;d be all that effective.Worth a shot: Kenyan Drake, Miami DolphinsI like Drake a lot here. I expect him to get more carries than Damien Williams and the Oakland Raiders just got carved up by LeSean McCoy.WIDE RECEIVERMust have: Devin Funchess, Carolina PanthersThe Atlanta Falcons aren&#8217;t too tough of a matchup and Funchess has become the top guy in Carolina all of the sudden. He&#8217;s too talented not to succeed.Pass: Rishard Matthews, Tennessee TitansI don&#8217;t like any Titans pass catcher this week. The Baltimore Ravens are a really bad matchup. With the expected return of rookie Corey Davis (someone who should be on your roster right now if he&#8217;s still on waivers), both Matthews and Eric Decker are going to take a hit moving forward. Davis will be the No. 1 option in Tennessee.Worth a shot: DeVante Parker, Miami DolphinsJay Culter is back and so is his favorite target &#8212; Parker. Expect a big day for the talented wideout. He&#8217;s a borderline WR2.TIGHT ENDMust have: Jack Doyle, Indianapolis ColtsGive me all of the Doyles. With so many injuries to the tight end position, and the fact that so many teams are on byes, Doyle is a top-five play.Pass: Evan Engram, New York GiantsThe talented tight end is a player I&#8217;m staying away from. The Rams are the real deal against tight ends.Worth a shot: George Kittle, San Francisco 49ersKittle is an emerging player at the position. The rookie could be in for a nice day facing a mediocre defense against tight ends in the Cardinals.<style>
