Voter turnout ‘low and slow’ in Luzerne County

<p>DANVILLE &#8212; A Geisinger Health System symposium will feature a lineup of high-profile speakers, including former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.</p><p>Clinton is expected to give the keynote address Thursday afternoon. Governor Tom Wolf is also expected to attend and address the national opioid crisis.</p><p>The event is called &#8220;From Crisis To Cure: Revitalizing America&#8217;s Healthcare System.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a pleasure to be invited to be a part of the continuing national conversation on health care at the symposium,&#8221; said Wolf in a statement. &#8220;In Pennsylvania, I&#8217;ve made it a priority to see that everyone has health care by expanding Medicaid, pursing a bipartisan fix to the Affordable Care Act, and passing legislation to legalize medical marijuana and expand efforts in the heroin and opioid fight.&#8221;</p><p>Other prominent speakers who are scheduled to appear include Gail R. Wilensky, former health care adviser to President George H. Bush; Ezekiel J. Emanuel, former health care adviser to President Barack Obama and a key architect of the Affordable Care Act; and Howard Dean, former Vermont governor and former chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Health administrators from the local Geisinger facility in Wilkes-Barre are also expected to attend.</p><p>The conference will be held Wednesday through Friday on Geisinger&#8217;s Danville campus.</p><p>Check www.timesleader.com for coverage of Clinton&#8217;s keynote address.</p><style>
