Activist burns flags in hopes of sparking reflection on racism

The coaches from the Wyoming Valley Conference announced its boys soccer all-stars on Thursday.Dallas and Crestwood had four players each named to the Division 1 first team. Wyoming Valley West and Tunkhannock saw three players each make the team.Dallas&#8217; David Chopyak, Ricky Wooditch, Zack Holthens and Brandyn Lewis received first-team honors.Crestwood&#8217;s Hubert Herrera, Max Giorano, Dylan Geb and Thomas Roberts make the first team.Wyoming Valley West&#8217;s Jake Gurtis, Nick Bazadona and Mitch Forgash, plus Tunhannock&#8217;s Matt Goodwin, Billy Prebola and Gavin Lahart all made the first team. Coughlin&#8217;s David Cortez and George Oko and Pittston Area&#8217;s Kyle Mlodzienski and Shane Syms round out the first team.Meyers had five players named to the Division 2 first team while Holy Redeemer, Wyoming Seminary and Lake-Lehman had four players apiece.Johnny Torres, Tanner Nilon, Michael Krasnavage, Joel Vazquez and Mellt Molina made the first team for Meyers, which was the most first team players from one team in both divisions.Holy Redeemer&#8217;s Eric Schramm, Lucas Barnak, Devin Dougherty and Lance McGrane made the first team. Wyoming Seminary&#8217;s Edge Miller, Ryan Anderson, Eli Idec and Matt Parsons were rewarded first-team honors. The Lake-Lehman first-team representatives were Max Paczewski, Justin Timonte, Kyle Sincavage and Chris Ash.GAR had three players named to the first team: Charlie Witzak, Jacob Delaney and Rafael Armigan.Berwick&#8217;s Ken Marshman and Luis Garcia, Nanticoke&#8217;s Adam Eckhart, Hanover Area&#8217;s Modou Janneh and MMI Prep&#8217;s Ian Dewar round out the team.BASEBALLWyoming Seminary names head baseball coachAthletic director Karen Klassner announced that Joe Phillips, of Dallas, was named the new Wyoming Seminary head coach of the baseball team.Phillips was formerly the assistant coach for the team last year.He has coached t-ball, minors, majors, teeners and American Legion teams in the Back Mountain.
