<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; Luzerne County Community College and state Sen. John Yudichak hosted a recent reception to celebrate the establishment of the Joseph Yudichak Career Pathway Scholarship at the college&#8217;s Campus Center rotunda.</p><p>Established in 2017 by the Yudichak Family Lighthouse Fund of the Luzerne Foundation, the $50,000 Joseph Yudichak Career Pathway Scholarship honors the life of an extraordinary man who served his country in the Navy, labored in the anthracite mines, became a construction superintendent, served as the director of the Northeast Regional Equipment Center and continues to serve his hometown of Plymouth Township as a supervisor, a press release says.</p><p>The Joseph Yudichak Career Pathway Scholarship will assist with tuition, books, and other education-related expenses for students with financial need who are enrolled in the Applied Technology and Skilled Trades programs. Joseph Yudichak, with his late wife Sally, raised eight children. They were the inspiration for Sen. John Yudichak to create the Yudichak Family Lighthouse Fund of the Luzerne Foundation.</p><p>&#8220;My father built a family and contributed mightily to the well-being of the communities he called home all through an unwavering devotion to the principle that a quality education and hard work empowers families to improve their lives,&#8221; said Sen. Yudichak, D-Plymouth Township. &#8220;The Joseph Yudichak Career Pathway Scholarship at Luzerne County Community College perfectly reflects the values of my father, and it will forever serve as a testament to his remarkable life of service to his family, his country, and his community.&#8221;</p><p>Through the Pennsylvania Advanced Training &amp; Hiring initiative, LCCC trains students for careers in emerging high opportunity professions. The PATH mission is to enhance student access to programs in diesel technology, welding, engineering, and manufacturing technology that lead to family-sustaining careers. PATH builds industry partners who have input into curriculum development and apprenticeship opportunities to ensure the college&#8217;s academic mission matches the needs of local industries.</p><style>
