<p>SCRANTON &#8212; Roll Call 911 is more than a gun shop.</p><p>According to Joe Harris, who co-owns the store with his father, Tom, there is not another store like the shop, which is located at 701 Hudson Ave.</p><p>&#8220;There&#8217;s nothing that I can really compare it to. We are absolutely unique in many regards,&#8221; he said.</p><p>Harris said what sets Roll Call 911 apart first and foremost is that it caters to the needs of law enforcement as well as sportsmen. </p><p>And since moving to its new location in May, a 27,000-square-foot facility compared to its old 6,000-square-foot facility, it&#8217;s able to offer more.</p><p>&#8220;We have the county&#8217;s first public indoor shooting range,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a live-fire, state-of-the-art indoor shooting range. &#8230; It&#8217;s heated, and we have target retrievers. In other words, you put the target on, you press the button, you send the target away, just like you see in the movies, except now it&#8217;s here in the northeast.&#8221;</p><p>Another thing that makes the facility unique, Harris said, is its training division. He explained that customers can come to the facility with no firearms experience, purchase a gun and enter a classroom on site, where they will learn safe handling of weapons.</p><p>&#8220;Then from there we can bring you across the hallway, and you could be shooting your firearm that day,&#8221; he said.</p><p>Roll Call 911 also has a &#8220;training house,&#8221; a 2,000-square-foot home with hallways, doorways and breaching doors for what he called scenario-based training.</p><p>&#8221;We would set you up in a house. We&#8217;re gonna call it your house, control what time of day it is by our lighting &#8212; it could be truly high noon, but we could have a 2 o&#8217;clock in the morning scenario. It&#8217;s basically role playing, where we would have an actor in the house, and you would respond to the threat,&#8221; he explained, adding that training guns are used.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re educating the homeowner on not only safe weapons handling, but use-of-force scenarios and how you can respond in a possibly deadly force situation, like a home invasion,&#8221; he said.</p><p>Harris said that the facility is available at no cost to law enforcement agencies.</p><p>&#8220;Me being on Scranton&#8217;s SWAT team for many years, and Scranton Police, I went to a lot of different trainings, and I was only afforded two times the opportunity to use a training house like this,&#8221; he said. &#8220;One of them was in Las Vegas, and the other was at (a) military base,&#8221;</p><p>He added the Las Vegas training was not available at a phone call, and while the military base was, it was far away.</p><p>&#8220;What we did is we brought that, we made that accessible. It was a missing part in training,&#8221; he said.</p><p>Harris said that Roll Call 911 owes all of their success to their customers.</p><p>&#8220;Our growth and this new location, all the credit would go to our customers,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We realized early on, our customers are Roll Call. Without the support that we had from our customers, the new location would have never been possible.&#8221;</p><style>
