Police seek information on alleged wallet thief at Tunkhannock-area Walmart

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; In their regular jobs at Pepperjam, Alan McLaughlin and Jordan Semar are required to do whatever their clients want.</p><p>By day, McLaughlin and Semar are graphic artists at Pepperjam, an Internet advertising agency.</p><p>By night and in their spare time, McLaughlin and Semar are partners in JAMS Art Collaboration Studio, an art project they created to blend their unique styles to create fresh, new art. They describe it as &#8220;Andy Warhol-like.&#8221;</p><p>JAMS Art Collaboration Studio is one of 12 local small businesses participating in the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Holiday Pop-Up Shop program, located at Midtown Village, 41 South Main St., for the holidays, through Saturday.</p><p>The pop-up program is being held via a partnership among the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, the PPL Foundation and the Insalaco Development Group.</p><p>McLaughlin, 33, grew up in Northern New Jersey and moved to Wilkes-Barre to attend King&#8217;s College and decided to stay. Semar, 30, went to Wilkes University, and the two met at Pepperjam.</p><p>&#8220;We always talked about doing something on the side, and we finally decided to do it,&#8221; McLaughlin said. &#8220;We just kind of make pop art &#8212; celebrities, musicians, and we do custom orders for customers.&#8221;</p><p>McLaughlin said he and Semar paint &#8220;really interesting pictures&#8221; of people or anything, really, A few examples their work hang in City Market on Public Square &#8212; Bill Murray, Marilyn Monroe and David Bowie. McLaughlin said bigger pieces &#8212; 4 foot by 4 foot &#8212; are priced between $250 to $800 each.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re trying to get as many local restaurants/businesses to hang our art to make the public aware of our work,&#8221; he said.</p><p>That&#8217;s why he and Semar decided to open a spot at the downtown Pop-Up Shops. McLaughlin said they will offer some original paintings, and they will have prints for sale as well. A print is a reproduction of an original work of art that sells for about $20, he said.</p><p>McLaughlin said the Pop-Up Shop program is a great idea, and he hopes it continues for years to come.</p><p>&#8220;I know this is the first one and it&#8217;s kind of an experiment, but I hope it continues,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I know it&#8217;s been good for us, giving us the opportunity to let the public know who we are and what we do.&#8221;</p><p>McLaughlin said he started painting about two years ago. He has a few of his paintings hanging in Franklin&#8217;s on Public Square .</p><p>He said he and Semar take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to complete a painting.</p><style>
