Wyoming Valley West offensive lineman Chris Bleich and linebacker Zach Davies were the only Wyoming Valley Conference players selected Tuesday to the Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State teams. The two Spartans were selected to the Class 5A team.The Class 5A team also had another local tie in Coach of the Year Don Holl of state runner-up Gateway. Holl coached Tunkhannock from 1995-1998.The WVC was shut out on the Class 3A and Class A teams, but District 2 did land five players on those all-state teams. Scranton Prep linebacker Ivan Balavage, offensive lineman Anthony Rossi and defensive back Sam Dickson made the Class 3A team. Old Forge running back Brendan Mozeleski and Lackawanna Trail offensive lineman Shawn Jones were Class A picks.Bleich earned all-state honors for a second consecutive year. The 6-foot-6, 320-pound senior will make his decision to attend the University of Florida official on Wednesday. On defense, he finished with 89 tackles, 14 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks.Davies led the Spartans in tackles for a second consecutive year. He finished with 154 stops, including 5.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks. Davies also rushed for 423 yards and 11 touchdowns during the regular season.On Monday, seven WVC players were chosen all-state. Hazleton Area linebacker Adrian Otero, defensive back David Smith and quarterback Sparky Wolk were chosen to the Class 6A team along with Williamsport quarterback Joe Fagnano, offensive lineman Kurt Danneker and tight end Ethen Stryker.
