Cintas expands to second location, looking to add 65 area jobs

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The city is scurrying to meet a tight deadline and apply for state grants to fund six projects.</p><p>The applications were discussed at city council&#8217;s work session Tuesday night. They will be on the agenda as resolutions for approval by city council at its last meeting of the year Thursday.</p><p>The city acts as the sponsor for the grants issued through the Local Share Account program that is funded by gambling revenue from the Mohegan Sun Pocono casino in Plains Township and administered through the Commonwealth Financing Authority.</p><p>&#8220;Those authorizations have to be in by the end of the year,&#8221; said city Administrator Ted Wampole.</p><p>The pending resolutions:</p><p>&#8226; $150,000 for improvements to the basement gun-firing range at Wilkes-Barre City Police Department headquarters.</p><p>&#8226; $316,672 to rehabilitate and upgrade the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority pump station in the city&#8217;s North End that serves 13,000 customers and handles 1.8 million gallons daily.</p><p>&#8226; $353,000 to purchase new heating, ventilation and air conditioning roof-top units and a full-coverage sound system for the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts.</p><p>&#8226; $300,000 for upgrades at the Wyoming Valley Art League building to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements by adding an elevator, accessible restrooms and for exterior repairs.</p><p>&#8226; $330,000 for the Children&#8217;s Service Center to purchase and renovate a property at 350 S. Franklin St. for an outpatient therapy program for adolescents and adults diagnosed with substance abuse disorders.</p><p>&#8226; $300,000 to prevent further deterioration at the Irem Temple building on North Franklin Street.</p><style>
