Center City Cafe partners with state agencies to collect Toys for Tots

Main St., Wilkes-Barre. 4 to 6 p.m. each Thursday in the church hall. $8, includes salad, pasta dinner, bread, dessert and beverage. Choice of six pastas and five sauces. Ample parking. 570-823-6692. Spaghetti dinners run through May and possibly into the first week of June. Dinners will not be offered on Dec. 28 and Jan. 4.</p><p><strong>Bread and Kolachi Sale, </strong>will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 22 at St. John&#8217;s Center, Hill Street, Mayfield. The sale will be held by parishioners of St. John&#8217;s Russian Orthodox Cathedral. Homemade plain and raisin bread and homemade nut, poppy seed, lekvar and apricot kolachi will be sold. Bread loaves cost $5, and bread rounds cost $10. Each kolachi costs $10. To place orders for bread and kolachi, call St. John&#8217;s rectory at 570-876-0730 or 570-876-3576. Deadline for orders is Dec. 19.</p><p><strong>Christmas Cookie Sale, </strong>will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 23 at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Cookies cost $10 for 1 pound and $5 for a 1/2 pound assortment. A limited amount of cookies will be available on the day of sale, but to place orders, call 570-313-2180.</p><p><strong>Soup for the Souls, </strong>will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 11 at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, in the Buttonwood section of Hanover Township. The soup of the month will be clam chowder. The cost for an order of soup is $8. Preorders are appreciated. For more information, call 570-825-6370.</p><p><strong>All-you-can-eat Breakfast, </strong>will take place from 7 to 11 a.m. Jan. 20 at Sylvania Lodge #354, 429 Trailing Pine Road, Shickshinny. The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, scrapple, ham, home fries, homemade biscuits, white or rye toast with chipped beef, sausage gravies and homemade sticky buns. $9.50 for adults; $4.50 for children 6 to 12; free for children under 6. Take-out is available at 570-542-2562.</p><p><strong>Meatloaf dinner, </strong>will take place from 4 to 6:30 p.m. April 29 at St. Martin in the Fields, the little stone church at the corner of Nuangola and Church roads in Mountain Top. The meal costs $10 for ages 12 and older and $5 for ages 5 to 11, and those younger than 5 are admitted free. Welsh cookies will also be available for purchase.</p><p><strong>&#8220;A Christmas Carol,&#8221;</strong> presented by the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble during their 40th anniversary year, 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 27 at the Alvina Krause Theater, 226 Center St., Bloomsburg. Stop by the office at Nescopeck State Park, Honey Hole Road, Drums, to enjoy a hot beverage such as tea, hot cocoa or bird-friendly coffee while getting to know the visitors to the bird feeders. Park staff will be on hand to answer questions about bird identification, winter bird feeding, and February&#8217;s upcoming Great Backyard Bird Count. No registration necessary.</p><style>
