Poem’s sentimentrings true	nearly200 years later

<p>PLAINS TWP. &#8212; A 40-year employee at Jack Williams Tire Company allegedly stole about $4,400 over the last year by altering invoices and taking money for work without turning it over to the business.</p><p>Robert Jeff Havard, 63, of Jenkins Township, worked at the Jack Williams location in Plains Township owned by Bill Williams.</p><p>Havard is accused of stealing through deception from August 2016 to September of this year.</p><p>Here are more details from a criminal complaint:</p><p>The company performed an internal investigation prior to making a formal complaint to law enforcement. That internal probe revealed Havard had been selling tires to customers and taking cash but not recording the transactions. Audits showed the tires should still be in stock, but they were not.</p><p>In addition, investigators found that Havard changed invoices as work was being performed on vehicles to show that less work or no work was done. That changed the final price on the invoice, and Havard would then pocket the cash paid by customers. </p><p>&#8221; &#8230; On some occasions, the defendant altered the invoices to show only a $5 donation to a local charity in order to not delete an already generated work order/invoice,&#8221; the complaint states.</p><p>The total amount involved in the case is $4,447.</p><p>Jack Williams Tire Co. issued a statement to the Times Leader on the case.</p><p>&#8220;The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania charged Mr. Havard with theft by deception directed against Jack Williams Tire. Mr. Havard&#8217;s 40-year employment with the company has been terminated.&#8221; </p><p>Online court records show Havard, of Old Boston Road, is facing a single felony count of theft by deception. They also say Havard waived a hearing and will now face the charge in county court.</p><p>He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail, which means he didn&#8217;t have to post any money to be released.</p><style>
