Luzerne County Association of REALTORS holds inaugural gala

<p class="x_MsoNormal">Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health and Developmental Services, in concert with the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Training Council on Quality, The Advocacy Alliance Northeast PA Health Care Quality Unit, and the Office for the Deaf &amp; Hard of Hearing, PA Department of Labor &amp; Industry, recently sponsored a Communication Fair at Genetti&#8217;s Hotel &amp; Conference Center in Wilkes-Barre.</p><p class="x_MsoNormal">The training focused on compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) as well as how to effectively communicate and plan for medical/employment appointments, etc. Additionally, the training included a presentation on how to integrate individuals with intellectual disabilities who are deaf and hard of hearing into the community.<ins> Presenters included: Denise Brown, Office for the Deaf &amp; Hard of Hearing, PA Department of Labor and Industry; Carl Frels, certified deaf interpreter for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf; and Nancy Sperlazzo, The Arc of Luzerne County. </ins></p><p class="x_MsoNormal"><ins>The training is a part of the counties&#8217; quality initiative to improve services and support for individuals with special needs. </ins></p><p class="x_MsoNormal">Seated, from left, are Gina Galli, Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health and Developmental Services; Denise Brown, presenter; Carl Frels, presenter; and Nancy Sperlazzo, presenter.</p><p class="x_MsoNormal">Standing in second row, from left, are Kenley Hoats, Northeast Regional Office of Developmental Programs; Rachel Ertz and Mary Jean Baird-Stanislow, Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health and Developmental Services; Sharon Fairburn, The Advocacy Alliance Northeast PA Health Care Quality Unit.</p><p class="x_MsoNormal">Standing in third row, from left, are Todd Short, Community Interactions, Inc.; Heather Ruseskas and Suzanne Strittmatter, Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health and Developmental Services; Debbie McGlynn and Matt Wills, Step by Step.</p><style>
