First-place battle: Wilkes men’s basketball outlasts Misericordia in overtime

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; It&#8217;s no secret that the digital phenomenon has taken media and advertising by storm over the past few years.</p><p>&#8220;This is becoming more and more a digital world,&#8221; said Mike Murray, publisher of the Times Leader Media Group.</p><p>That&#8217;s why the TL held a digital workshop Wednesday night at the Westmoreland Club in downtown Wilkes-Barre specifically for those in the real estate industry.</p><p>Lindsay Devinney, a member of the Times Leader Media Group&#8217;s digital team, gave a presentation to real estate professionals on how they can utilize digital tools to market themselves and the properties they sell.</p><p>She repeatedly emphasized how mobile and video presence for consumers has grown since the digital revolution took off, citing research that people spend an average of three hours per day on their smartphones.</p><p>&#8220;Video is the most dynamic thing that you can post to be able to show to more of your audience,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It is more important for the real estate industry than any other industry.&#8221; Devinney also encouraged the use of video as a means for brokers to brand themselves and to offer virtual tours of homes to sell properties.</p><p>She also stated it&#8217;s important for real estate agents to have a &#8220;robust social media presence.&#8221; Devinney noted that Facebook and LinkedIn have surpassed yard signs and open houses in popularity, and that Instagram can also be used for marketing purposes.</p><p>She emphasized that a business website is one of the best ways to attract consumers.</p><p>&#8220;That is essentially your online brick and mortar and it is very important whether you&#8217;re an individual agent, an owner, a lender, a builder &#8212; across the board,&#8221; Devinney said. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t have to be super fancy.&#8221;</p><p>Targeted banner ads are also becoming increasingly popular online.</p><p>&#8220;Anywhere there&#8217;s access to the internet, you can put an ad in front of that person,&#8221; said Eric Gronwaldt, another member of TL&#8217;s digital team, referring to online audiences.</p><p>Kerry Miscavage, Advertising Director for the Times Leader Media Group, said the company is enthusiastic about working with those in the real estate industry to assist with marketing needs. &#8220;We look forward to bring digital opportunities to real estate professionals.&#8221;</p><p>Murray also believes the TL&#8217;s modern advertising techniques can help brokers stand out from the crowd.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s an exciting time for the Times Leader to be able to bring new products and services to our clients,&#8221; he said.</p><style>
