<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Two altercations broke out at Meyers High School on Thursday, Wilkes-Barre Area School District Superintendent Brian Costello confirmed.</p><p>One was in the school during school hours, the other was across the street from the school after dismissal.</p><p>&#8220;Neither was associated with the other,&#8221; Costello said. He noted that more school resource and city police officers are brought to a school if there is reason to suspect a fight will spill into the streets once students are let out. &#8220;The appropriate discipline will occur and charges will be pending,&#8221; he added.</p><p>The after-school incident apparently occurred at or near a convenience market across Carey Avenue. Because students were being dismissed, school resource officers were already outside and able to immediately intervene, Costello said.</p><p>He was not sure how many students were involved in each incident.</p><style>
