West Pittston student named to Becker College dean’s list

Colorful fashions from countries around the globe &#8212; including India, Nigeria, Ghana, Thailand and Japan &#8212; were on display recently at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine as students and faculty took part in the school&#8217;s annual International Luncheon and Cultural Explosion Fashion Show. The event was organized by the school&#8217;s student-run Diversity Task Force.&#8220;Understanding the rich tapestry within our community has been part of our culture since the school&#8217;s inception,&#8221; said Ida L. Castro, J.D., Geisinger Commonwealth&#8217;s chief diversity officer and vice president for community engagement. &#8220;Our annual event focuses on the power of our diversity by inviting all members of our school community to cook and share a dish unique to their heritage and to take part in the Cultural Explosion Fashion Show.&#8221;Students taking part in the event included Shital Patel, of Drums, who modeled clothing from India; and Tinatini Giutashvili, of Kingston, who served as master of ceremonies.Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (Geisinger Commonwealth) is a member of the Geisinger family. Geisinger Commonwealth offers a community-based model of medical education with campuses in Danville, Doylestown, Scranton, Sayre and Wilkes-Barre.
