Pittston man accused of insurance fraud

Police: Dallas man burglarized house for rent money

<p>WEST HAZLETON &#8212; A traffic stop for a dirty license plate resulted in the apprehension of two men wanted by authorities in two counties on Sunday.</p><p>Police said they stopped Joseph Michael Elliss, 35, of Hazleton, for driving a Suzuki station wagon with a license plate that was unreadable on East Broad Street just after 11 p.m.</p><p>A records check revealed Elliss was wanted by the Luzerne County Sheriff&#8217;s Department for failure to appear at a court proceeding. Police alleged Elliss had a bag containing suspected cocaine and a tightly wrapped $1 bill commonly used to ingest cocaine, according to the criminal complaint.</p><p>A passenger in his vehicle, Justin Paul Haines, 30, allegedly identified himself as Justin Azar. A records check revealed Haines was wanted by Schuylkill County Adult Probation for violating conditions of probation, the complaint says.</p><p>Police allege Haines was in possession of various pills.</p><p>Elliss was arraigned Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. Bail was set on the charges at $10,000 unsecured. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility based on the sheriff&#8217;s warrant.</p><p>Haines was arraigned on four counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of false identification to law enforcement and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $10,000 bail.</p><style>
