W-B Area teacher suspended with pay pending investigation

<p>HAZLETON &#8212; City police said a surveillance camera allegedly recorded a fight Saturday night when a man sustained a four inch laceration near his eye.</p><p>Hakeim Perkins, 44, of West Maple Street, Hazleton, was charged with assaulting another man, 31, in front of a residence in the 200 block of West Diamond Avenue at about 9 p.m.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>Police responded to the residence finding a man sitting on a porch holding a bloody towel to his head. He claimed Perkins struck him in the head several times and cut him in the face.</p><p>Police said the man suffered a laceration from his eye to the back of his head.</p><p>A surveillance camera allegedly recorded Perkins shoving the man against a fence and punching him in the head. As the man got up to run into the residence, Perkins swung his arms and the man immediately grabbed the left side of his face.</p><p>Perkins followed the man into the residence and damaged a door that was closed on him.</p><p>Police said Perkins was allegedly recorded walking out of the house and across the street.</p><p>Perkins was arrested by police near the residence. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $300,000 bail.</p><p>A second accomplice with Perkins was not captured. </p><p>Police said the man Perkins allegedly assaulted was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hazleton.</p><style>
