Nanticoke Police seeking Rite Aid theft suspect

<p>Fresh off its 12th straight Pennsylvania Prep championship, Wyoming Seminary is gearing up for the 83rd National Prep Wrestling Championships, which begin Friday at Lehigh University&#8217;s Stabler Arena.</p><p>After crowning seven state titlists last weekend and qualifying all 14 wrestlers for nationals, the Blue Knights are looking to dethrone rival Blair Academy for the second time in the last five years.</p><p>Sem&#8217;s Beau Bartlett (126 pounds) and Jack Davis (132) are returning national champions. Bartlett won the event last year as a freshman, while Davis claimed the top award in the country as a sophomore in 2016. Both are also defending state champions. Davis claimed his third state title last weekend, while Bartlett repeated his performance from his freshman campaign.</p><p>Zeke Escalera (120), Carson Manville (138), Jake Stefanowicz (160), Darrien Roberts (182) and Mike Doggett (220) also won golds last weekend at the Pennsylvania tourney.</p><p>All participating teams head to Lehigh on Thursday, while wrestling starts on Friday at 9 a.m. with the round of 32. The round of 16 follows at 11:30 a.m. with the quarters set for 5 p.m.</p><p>On Saturday, the semifinals are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and the finals will be held at 12:30 p.m.</p><p>Last year, Sem finished 30 points behind Blair, with 13 All-Americans and two champions; six of those 13 All-Americans are back for another shot at glory. In addition to Bartlett and Davis, Roberts and Austin Cooley (195) were third last year, while Benny Baker (152) and Jake Hendricks (170) were both fifth. Baker was also an All-American in 2016, finishing as runner-up that year as a freshman.</p><p>The last time the Blue Knights won the national title was in 2014 when they had two champions. The next year, they were runner-up to Blair despite dressing five gold medalists.</p><p><strong>Gray a champion again</strong></p><p>Adeline Gray, an Olympic participant for the United States in 2016, has been an assistant coach for Wyoming Seminary girls program. She has helped enormously, especially since head coach Erin Vandiver recently gave birth.</p><p>Gray has been busy herself.</p><p>This past weekend, Gray, a three-time world champion, won the Klippan Ladies Open, beating defending world champion Yasemin Adar of Turkey in the 76kg finals. The two combined for 15 points, the highest of all 10 finals in the prestigious tournament.</p><p><strong>The wait is over</strong></p><p>A two-week break after district duals is over and action is about to begin once again this weekend when the postseason run starts.</p><p>Tonight, the seeds for both district tournaments will be released. In fact, brackets for all district tournaments around the state will be released by Thursday morning.</p><p>Then the fun starts with both Class 3A and Class 2A District 2 tournaments on Friday and Saturday held at the Kingston Armory. Wrestling starts at 5 p.m. Friday in both classes and continues with the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Saturday. There is no long break scheduled in between rounds. So the finals and medal rounds will likely start around 2 p.m.</p><p>The top three placewinners in Class 2A will move on to the next round of the postseason, the Northeast Regional Tournament at Williamsport High School next weekend. In Class 3A, the top four medalists advance to regionals at Bethlehem Liberty High School.</p><p>Tunkhannock&#8217;s Tommy Traver (Class 3A), Lake-Lehman&#8217;s Bob Long and Hanover Area&#8217;s D.J. Erickson (both Class 2A) are the conference&#8217;s returning state qualifiers.</p><style>
