<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; Prior to a meeting this week, new Luzerne County Community College trustees were sworn into office.</p><p>State Supreme Court Judge Correale Stevens administered the oath of office to five trustees, who will each serve for six years: attorney Christopher Slusser, attorney Catherine O&#8217;Donnell, Dr. Bernard Graham, James Dennis, and Joan Blewitt, who returns to the board for an additional term.</p><p>LCCC also learned it is in compliance with good financial practices, according to an audit.</p><p>The 2017 audit, performed by accounting firm MaherDuessel, deemed the school&#8217;s financial statements in compliance with true and fair accounting practices.</p><p>&#8220;This is consistent with last year&#8217;s audit, in which we were also in compliance,&#8221; said Cheryl Baur, controller.</p><p>The report shows total assets of the institution for 2017 have declined slightly from 2016 &#8212; from $88,321,888 to $86,509,231. Liabilities also increased slightly from $38,679,002 in 2016 to $39,119,123.</p><p>The board also announced an upcoming legislative breakfast scheduled for April 20 and encouraged attendance.</p><p>Board member Lynn Distasio pointed out: &#8220;The breakfast would give you a chance to talk with local legislators.&#8221;</p><p>&#8203;In other business, the board:</p><p>&#8226; Approved a capital application to the state Department of Education and authorized matching funds if approved for:</p><p>&#8212; New facility lease, Scranton: $299,000</p><p>&#8212; Main parking lot paving: $1,200,000</p><p>&#8212; Roof replacement for buildings 6 and 14: $472,000</p><p>&#8212; Public Safety Training Institute firing range: $300,000</p><p>&#8226; Awarded the position of website auditor to Siteimprove, deemed the lowest responsible bidder at $22,380.</p><p>&#8226; Approved the addition of a &#8220;Human Services: Addiction Recovery&#8221; major to prepare students for work in the drug and alcohol field.</p><style>
