Next up at the Kennedy Center? A new focus on hip-hop

<p>Ah, my final spring break.</p><p>A whole week off from exams, papers, projects and presentations &#8212; and it couldn&#8217;t have come at a better time.</p><p>The few weeks before a break are often the hardest. Between midterm exams and professors squeezing one last project in before break, it becomes overwhelming.</p><p>Add a bad cold that you&#8217;ve been trying to ignore as much as possible, not sleeping as much as you should to finish assignments, and missing meals (I mean, just straight-up forgetting to eat lunch) because you&#8217;re so busy, and that&#8217;s been my last week or so.</p><p>A lot of people keep asking me what my plans are for spring break. They think I&#8217;ll tell them I&#8217;m going on a road trip, or visiting Cancun or some other travel destination.</p><p>I really can&#8217;t even imagine doing anything like that right now after all the stress I just experienced. Packing? Ugh. Getting on a plane? No thank you. Jet lag? I&#8217;m already tired all the time. That doesn&#8217;t sound like much of a break to me.</p><p>My plan for spring break is to sleep as much as I can and take care of some things that I just don&#8217;t think about during school, like making dentist appointments.</p><p>I got a head start on that with a snow day yesterday.</p><p>I must say though, it makes me kind of sad that I&#8217;m so excited for extra sleep and to take care of such basic adult responsibilities.</p><p>If I&#8217;ve learned anything from a life of watching television, spring break is when college students are supposed to go wild and crazy. I have never done that, and now I never will.</p><p>On the flip side, many of my fellow students are studying or performing community service abroad. Another couple of things I might not have the opportunity to do so easily again.</p><p>I guess it all comes down to the fact that I am not a wild and crazy college student, and that I am the kind of person that needs a good break every once in a while when things get overwhelming. And there&#8217;s nothing wrong with either of those things.</p><p>To everyone going on an adventure this coming week, I hope it&#8217;s just as awesome as it sounds.</p><p>And for everyone like me who is just looking forward to making doctor&#8217;s appointments and not setting their alarms, I hope you aren&#8217;t worried about missing out. Your college experience is yours, and however you want to create that experience is just as good as how anyone else creates theirs.</p><style>
