The following are recent Luzerne County restaurant inspection reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. According to the agency: &#8220;any inspection is a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Assorted knives on storage magnets have old dried food residuals on blades. Prepackaged bread offered for sale is not labeled to clearly indicate any &#8220;Big 8&#8221; allergen ingredients and/or the allergen warning statement. Chemical sprayer underneath sink is not labeled for content. A food employee was observed washing their hands at the three compartment sink rather than the designated handwash sink. Food employees observed in food prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Observed wet wiping cloths in food prep area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. Food containers stored on floor in storage area. Open box of cigarettes is stored on prep counter. Person(s) in charge are not monitoring establishment operation for compliance with food code requirements. Food employee observed donning single-use gloves without a prior hand wash. Gallon of milk in refrigerator is showing expired use-by date. Milk disposed. Complimentary peanuts in the customer area is not protected from contamination by use of dispensers, coverings, or suitable utensils. Violations: Observed cans of insecticides in the kitchen area, not labeled by the manufacturer as approved for use in a food facility. Cans were discarded. Observed 50 rodent like droppings under shelves along the wall in the kitchen and hall storage area. Working containers in warewash area, used for storing cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Containers were labeled. Employee personal items were observed on storage shelves alongside containers of ingredients. Items were removed from the area. Observed a build-up of food residue along the edges and around the hinges on the Bain Marie. Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in hall area directly on the floor, and not six inches above the floor. Observed soiled utensils stored in container with cleaned utensils. Utensils were placed to be cleaned and sanitized.Oxford Pub - Triple K Saloon, 579 Main St., Edwardsville: regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: The fan guards in the reach-in refrigeration units at the bar and in the kitchen have an accumulation of black grime and static dust. The guards were cleaned and sanitized during this inspection. Mechanical warewashing equipment had a mineral like build-up observed inside. Observed a build-up of residue around the sides of the three bay sink in the bar area.Manuel&#8217;s Empanadas, 35 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton: regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible. Violations: Several bottles of infant formula offered for retail sale are showing expired sell by dates. Product was voluntarily removed from sale and disposed by owner. Violations: Observed food/equipment items stored in a restroom that has been placed out of order, however toilet and urinal have not been disconnected and appear to be in use. Person in charge directed to remove items from area until restroom is removed. Food employees observed in prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets or hats. Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food (deli meats), located in the refrigeration unit, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Discussed date marking and provided guidance documents. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required.Polock&#8217;s Bar B Q, Third and Oak Street, nescopeck: regular inspection; in compliance.San Jose Deli, 347 W. Broad St., Hazleton: change of owner inspection; in compliance.The Garden Tea Room, 329 Main St., Conyngham: regular inspection; in compliance.Anthracite VFW Post No. 283, regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: The inside surface of one of two soda gun holsters, a food contact surface, was observed to have a build-up of a tan yeast like residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The facility cleaned and sanitized the holster during this inspection. Refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food (red sauce with meatballs, and Swedish meatballs) prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the two-door stainless steel reach-in refrigerator, is not being date marked. The items were datemarked during this inspection. Several ceiling tiles are water stained in the kitchen/dishwashing areas. Five ceiling tiles missing and one broken ceiling tile in the dish washing area, and need replaced.Outpost Inn, 2 Roberts St., Hunlock Creek: regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. The fan guard inside of the reach-in sliding glass door refrigeration unit at the bar has an accumulation of static dust. Floor tiles are broken or missing, exposing the wooden floor below in the prep area as well as the men&#8217;s restroom. The floor surface is no longer smooth and easily cleanable. Observed the freezer in prep area, with an accumulation of dried food residue and debris on the floor surface , a non-food contact surface. The blade and blade guard on the deli slicer, a food contact surface, was observed to have dried food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The deli slicer was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection.Subway No. 12463, 170 Laurel Plaza, Pittston: regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Observed a a build-up of syrup residue on the surface above the nozzles on the self serve beverage machine. Hot water observed to be turned off in the women&#8217;s restroom due to leaking. Facility directed to make necessary repairs.Tyson&#8217;s Tavern, 77 Old Newport St., Sheatown: regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Observed a packet of rodent bait not placed in tamper resistant bait station. Packet was discarded. Observed a build-up of rust on the shelves in the cooler in the bar area.Valley Mart No. 4, 3230 Route 309, Dallas: regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: A Grill thermometer measuring from 100 to 700&#176; F was being used in the cold hold milk dispensing unit. The thermometer was changed during this inspection. Tongs used for self serve hot dogs were stored between the bottom surface of the roller grill and the roll storage box, an area that is not easily cleanable. The tongs were cleaned and sanitized during this inspection and placed inside the roller grill unit. All inside surfaces of the microwave oven, food contact surfaces, were observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. The microwave was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection. The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view. The Person in charge stated that the certified person no longer works at the facility and took the serve save certification with her. The facility has another certified person however the certificate is not currently posted in the facility.Vito&#8217;s Bistro, 434 N. Main St., Pittston: follow-up inspection; in compliance.Brews Brothers, 1705 River Rd., Pittston: regular inspection; in compliance. Violation: Observed ROP packaged fish being thawed in walk-in cooler without being opened or removed from package. Packages were cut open. Observed a build-up of food residue on the non food contact areas of the deli slicer. Observed a build-up of dust and mold like residue on the fan guards and hoses in the walk-in beer cooler. Observed a build-up of residue and dust in the vents under the Bain Marie. Observed a build-up of dust and residues on liquor bottles in the bar area. Observed broken handles on one refrigeration unit in the kitchen area. Glass washer at the bar had a residual build-up observed inside.Chuck E. Soup was held at 90&#176; F, in the prep area, rather than 135&#176; F or above as required. Food was reheated. Observed food residue on the blade on the vegetable cutter. Blade was cleaned. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Observed food residue along the back edge of the Bain Marie.Patty&#8217;s Sub Division, 235 S. River St., Plains: regular inspection; in compliance. Violation: Food employees observed in prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers.Wendy&#8217;s No. 302, 55 S. Wyoming Ave., Edwardsville: regular inspection; in compliance. Violation: Observed containerized food stored directly on the floor in walk-in freezer area, rather than six inches off of the floor as required.
