Hanover Area hosts safety session in wake of Florida school shooting

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; An East Stroudsburg woman has pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and prescription pills while inside a motel room with a 3-year-old girl.</p><p>Jessica Denise Butts, 41, was arrested by Wilkes-Barre Township police while conducting a welfare check on the child at the Motel 6 on Schechter Drive on Feb. 20.</p><p>Police were told that a woman in a motel room was under the influence of drugs while supervising a young girl.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>Butts concealed a vial in her pocket that contained a white chunky powder suspected to be cocaine. Loose Suboxone pills and a scouring pad commonly used to smoke crack cocaine were allegedly found mixed with toys in a Mickey Mouse bag.</p><p>During a preliminary hearing in Luzerne County Central Court this week, Butts pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, misbranding a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.</p><p>Prosecutors withdrew charges of endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment.</p><p>Butts was fined $322.25. She was released from the county correctional facility on Feb. 25 after posting $30,000.</p><style>
