<p>PITTSTON &#8212; With the calendar turning to spring, council members are turning their attention to fixing damage on city streets.</p><p>On Wednesday, council members approved a motion to retain Stell Enterprises Inc., of Wilkes-Barre, for $5,000 to perform manhole repair work on Cliff and Tompkins streets.</p><p>The repairs come in advance of the streets being completely repaired for free by the water company, according to city officials.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s something we&#8217;ve done for eight years since I&#8217;ve been here &#8230; . In advance of the utilities doing work on the streets, we make the necessary repairs that are our responsibility,&#8221; said city administrator Joe Moskovitz.</p><p>On top of fixing manholes, council also approved seeking bids for construction and paving on several streets.</p><p>City Operations Coordinator David Hines said they are seeking to spend no more than $100,000 and are focusing on West Oak, West Frothingham and Garfield streets.</p><p>He said the city is also looking at repairing Price Street and Elizabeth Street where it intersects at West Oak &#8212; but only if it can.</p><p>&#8220;The reason you do that is because you see what the bids come in at and you can peel off, depending on how much money you have to spend, you can peel off portions of the project,&#8221; said Councilman Michael Lombardo, who oversaw the meeting due to Mayor Michael Lombardo&#8217;s absence.</p><p>&#8220;So you can do any, none, or all,&#8221; added Moskovitz.</p><p>In other business, council members approved:</p><p>&#8226; The purchase of a 2018 Police Ford Interceptor SUV at $34,000 and will convert an existing unmarked cruiser to a K9 unit.</p><p>&#8226; The closing of Anderson Street between William Street and Broad Street from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, July 12, Friday, July 13, and Saturday, July 14, for the St. Joseph Marello Picnic.</p><style>
