<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Wilkes University inked a deal with Neumann University Friday, a Catholic school &#8220;just a two-hour drive right up the blue route,&#8221; as Neuman arts and science dean Alfred Mueller put it.</p><p>&#8220;Or as you call it, the (turnpike) northeast extension,&#8221; Mueller clarified.</p><p>The new agreement allows pre-pharmacy students to take their core requirements for two years at Neumann, a school set up by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in Aston, southwest of Philadelphia. Students can then come to Wilkes University for four years, earning a bachelor&#8217;s degree from Neuman before getting their pharmacy degree from Wilkes.</p><p>&#8220;We already have a student,&#8221; Wilkes pharmacy Dean Scott Stolte smiled as he announced the deal while standing on the stairway in Weckesser Hall. &#8220;The ink isn&#8217;t even dry on the agreement.&#8221;</p><p>That happened because Neumann had a pre-pharmacy student planning to attend pharmacy school elsewhere, but switched to Wilkes as soon as news of the agreement got out.</p><p>Stolte predicted more agreements between the two schools in the future. &#8220;I feel we have identified someone with the same core values as we have.&#8221;</p><style>
