<p>There&#8217;s a classic joke among college students that has been circulating the Internet for years.</p><p>The joke is that in the daily quest to work toward good grades, maintain a social life, and have enough sleep, only two can actually take place.</p><p>It is often portrayed as a triangle, with each corner representing a choice.</p><p>In other words, you can have good grades and a social life, but you won&#8217;t be sleeping. You will be either hanging out with your friends or studying. Good luck.</p><p>You can have a social life and enough sleep, but at the expense of good grades. When were you planning on squeezing in some homework time?</p><p>Finally, you can have good grades and enough sleep, but I don&#8217;t think you&#8217;ll find enough time to make friends, and I certainly don&#8217;t think you&#8217;ll be taking many trips to the bar.</p><p>The conundrum seems true. I would say that&#8217;s why it has been spreading for so long. I would argue, though, that realistically there are other factors in there that need balancing.</p><p>A lot of students need to work while they&#8217;re in school. How does that factor in? I would imagine it could affect any of the components of the aforementioned triangle.</p><p>What about exercise? Surely that can take up some of your studying time. If you choose a social life, but you exercise in the morning, wouldn&#8217;t that get in the way of having enough sleep? And it wouldn&#8217;t even necessarily mean you get good grades. What a rip off.</p><p>For some people, it&#8217;s possible that the choice is not there at all. If they don&#8217;t get good grades, they don&#8217;t go to college anymore. Period.</p><p>And who says anyone with good grades and dark circles under the eyes is guaranteed a good social life anyway?</p><p>While it&#8217;s fun and comforting to look at fellow college students as comrades, familiar with all of your plights, it just is not realistic. Everyone has a different experience, based on their circumstances.</p><p>Some people have a lot more to worry about than good grades, sleep and a social life.</p><p>I think a lot of people are capable of doing all three, but haven&#8217;t given themselves the chance.</p><p>Don&#8217;t let Internet memes control your college experience; only you can do that.</p><style>
