<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The city has launched a new website designed to be more user-friendly.</p><p>The site will make it easier for people to quickly find city information, including department contacts, meeting dates, garbage collection schedules, and information on special events.</p><p>&#8220;The goal for the new website design is to provide residents with the information they are searching for as quickly and effortlessly as possible,&#8221; said Tyler Ryan, the mayor&#8217;s executive assistant. &#8220;City department heads worked together to update and streamline information for the new website launch.&#8221;</p><p>Some of the new features at <a href="http://www.wilkes-barre.city/" target="_blank">www.wilkes-barre.city</a> include:</p><p>&#8226; An enhanced search bar that features a &#8220;Trending Searches&#8221; option.</p><p>&#8226; A &#8220;Find It Fast&#8221; button to more quickly access information.</p><p>&#8226; A &#8220;Citizen Action Center&#8221; section allows users to report issues; get details on garbage and recycling pickup, parking, city boards and authorities; plus see a list of city properties for sale.</p><p>&#8226; Residents can also sign up for e-alerts to receive the latest updates from the city via email.</p><p>Ryan said in a press release the new site features a &#8220;responsive design,&#8221; so it will work well across all devices, from smartphones to desktop computers.</p><p>&#8220;Research shows that users prefer the same experience across all devices,&#8221; the release stated.</p><p>The city worked with government website specialist Virtual Towns &amp; Schools, of Massachusetts, on the project. VTS has more than 600 municipal clients plus 20 years of experience in the field.</p><style>
