Out On a Limb: Baseball-playing ancestors can be found in newspaper archives

<p>Tom Thornton of Blakeslee captured these vivid images of a mature bald eagle in Stroudsburg last month. Very few animals in nature can match the intense gaze of an eagle, and Thornton&#8217;s photos highlight the majestic character of our nation&#8217;s symbol.</p><p>Reaching up to 40 inches in length, weighing eight to 12 pounds and possessing a wingspan that can extend to eight feet, it&#8217;s not a surprise that bald eagles build the largest nest of any North American bird. Nests can be five feet wide and two feet high.</p><p>Right now, eagle nests around the state contain an egg or two, and next month eaglets will begin to hatch. Three months after hatching they&#8217;ll begin to fly, officially contributing to the growth of the bald eagle population in the state.</p><p><em>Capture anything interesting on your hand-held or trail camera?
