Woman questioned in Plains shed body case arrested for theft, forgery

<p>DALLAS TWP. &#8212; Kingston Township&#8217;s summer recreation program will now be open to children in Dallas Township.</p><p>It&#8217;s a result of declining enrollment in Dallas Borough&#8217;s summer program, which has been discontinued.</p><p>&#8220;Tracey Carr (Dallas Borough manager) called me and indicated they were not going to run a summer program through the borough this year as in years past,&#8221; Dallas Township Supervisor William Grant said. &#8220;Part of the reason is due to dwindling enrollment.&#8221;</p><p>Dallas Township had 20 children enrolled in the borough&#8217;s summer program last year, Grant said, noting in previous years registration ran between 30 to 40.</p><p>During the phone call, Carr stated the borough was going to team with Kingston Township, according to Grant.</p><p>Grant also reached out to Kingston Township and received a copy of what it offers.</p><p>&#8220;It seems like a really great program for the kids,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It is $100 per child (cost payable by parents or caregivers) for the entire summer. There are field trips. It seems like they keep the kids busy.&#8221;</p><p>Based on the 20 children who attended the borough&#8217;s program last year, the cost to Dallas Township would be about $189 per child, Grant said.</p><p>&#8220;Which would run us $3,780 and we only budgeted $1,200 because we thought we would still be with the borough&#8217;s program,&#8221; Grant said.</p><p>In prior years, the township&#8217;s involvement in the borough&#8217;s summer program was nearly a $7,000 expense, Grant said.</p><p>&#8220;So ultimately, we are still getting away with being a little cheaper,&#8221; he said.</p><p>In other news:</p><p>&#8226; Supervisors unanimously approved hiring Paul Henn as a new full-time police officer.</p><p>Henn has served with the Tunkhannock Borough Police Department and with the Wyoming County Sheriff&#8217;s Department, Dallas Township Police Chief Douglas Higgins said. Henn has worked in law enforcement for a year-and-a-half, he added.</p><p>&#8226; The next Dallas Township supervisors meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 2 in the municipal building.</p><style>
