Ex-football star Hamilton praised for intervening in alleged drug activity

<p>MOOSIC &#8212; Going to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders&#8217; home opener has been a tradition for Greg Holl and his brothers for the last 15 years.</p><p>It doesn&#8217;t matter if it&#8217;s 80 degrees and sunny like last year or 55, cloudy and windy with a chance of rain like it was on Friday. Holl was going to be there. </p><p>&#8220;Me and my brothers, it&#8217;s a tradition,&#8221; the Pittston resident said. &#8220;It&#8217;s one of the times of year that we look forward to.</p><p>&#8220;It was raining out a few years ago, it was 82 last year. It doesn&#8217;t matter. We&#8217;re one of the few that will stay for the whole game.&#8221;</p><p>The Holls were among an announced crowd of 9,327 that turned out to see the RailRiders defeat the Syracuse Chiefs, 6-5.</p><p>The opportunity to see some of the New York Yankees&#8217; top prospects makes RailRiders games an intriguing option for entertainment.</p><p>Holl&#8217;s interactions with Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge when the 2017 American League Rookie of the Year played in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was a fond memory he holds to this day. And now, with top prospects like Chance Adams on the mound and Gleyber Torres starting at shortstop, Holl can continue to make memories.</p><p>&#8220;A few years ago when Aaron Judge was here, we used to talk to him when it was not that busy in the outfield,&#8221; Holl said. &#8220;Just the thought of coming here and saying, &#8216;Oh, I saw that guy play in Scranton and now we watch them on ESPN and stuff.</p><p>&#8220;You look forward to (RailRiders games), especially when it gets warm out. You&#8217;re sitting out there watching, drinking soda with the guys and eating, it&#8217;s a perfect night out. Nothing to do? Come up here.&#8221;</p><p>Friday&#8217;s season opener presented a perfect bonding opportunity for the Honesdale baseball team.</p><p>It was the first trip to Opening Day as a full team and a tradition captain David Curreri wants continue for seasons to come.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a fun time. You get to watch pro guys play,&#8221; the junior shortstop said. &#8220;You get to pick up some things, but you also get to have a fun time with your team. It&#8217;s a real good time.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;You get to hang out with the team,&#8221; Honesdale junior third baseman Cade LaBracio added. &#8220;You get to create new relationships with all the players, even the new ones coming up &#8212; the freshmen. It&#8217;s fun.&#8221;</p><p>For freshman catcher Garrett Tonkin, being at the season opener was a special opportunity, especially as a Yankees fan.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s really, really exciting being here, especially having them be in the area and not having to go all the way to New York like we usually do. I think they will be great team,&#8221; Tonkin said.</p><style>
