<p>ASHLEY &#8212; Two borough police officers injured in an early morning crash Sunday have been released from the hospital, according to Ashley&#8217;s police chief.</p><p>Charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle that hit theirs head-on.</p><p>Patrolman Joshua Smith and Sgt. Joseph McGlynn were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries after a vehicle being driven by Josue Baldez, 28, of Illinois, crashed into their unmarked car.</p><p>Police say Baldez was traveling southbound on South Main Street at around 5 a.m. Sunday, when he suddenly veered into the northbound lane and crashed head first into the officer&#8217;s vehicle.</p><p>Ashley Borough Police Chief David Fedorczyk confirmed in an email that both Smith and McGlynn have been released from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, and they will both have at least a week off work.</p><p>Meanwhile, charges against Baldez are pending until the results of a blood alcohol content test are returned.</p><p>Fedorczyk requested that Hanover Township Police handle the investigation. Police were assisted on scene by Sugar Notch Police.</p><style>
