Live-music setting opens in downtown Wilkes-Barre

<p>Trailing by four runs with just three innings to play, all looked lost for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.</p><p>Until they sent nine batters to the plate in a six-run inning.</p><p>The RailRiders&#8217; surge was capped off by a bases-clearing double from L.J. Mazzilli, an RBI double from Gleyber Torres and a sacrifice fly from Ryan McBroom to secure the 10-5 victory over the Charlotte Knights.</p><p>Trailing 5-1 heading into the top of the seventh inning, the RailRiders started the inning with back-to-back walks by Zack Zehner and Erik Kratz and an Abiatal Avelino single to load the bases for Rashad Crawford. The center fielder kept his hot night at the plate going, knocking Zehner in with an RBI single to right for his second hit of the night.</p><p>Crawford&#8217;s RBI single brought up Mazzilli as the tying run.</p><p>Facing Juan Minaya, who just replaced Charlotte reliever Robbie Ross Jr., Mazzilli let the 27-year-old right-hander throw a couple of pitches past him for balls before pulling the 2-0 pitch down the left field line to clear the bases. Mazzilli&#8217;s double erased the RailRiders&#8217; deficit, tying the game 5-5 with Torres stepping up to the plate.</p><p>The New York Yankees&#8217; top prospect sent a shot into right field and reached second base ahead of the throw from Charlotte right fielder Daniel Palka to give the RailRiders a 6-5 lead.</p><p>After Torres advanced to third on a wild pitch from Minaya, RailRiders first baseman capped off the six-run inning witha sacrifice fly to center to score Torres.</p><p>The RailRiders were able to mount the comeback despite a rough outing from southpaw Daniel Camarena. The 25-year-old was bested by Charlotte ace and top pitching prospect Michael Kopech after Camarena gave up five runs on three hits and five walks in just 3.1 innings. Kopech pitched six innings of one-run ball.</p><p>Erik Kratz knocked in the lone RBI against Kopech, on a groundout to the first baseman.</p><p>Brady Lail was able to come in and stop the bleeding after Camarena left in the fourth inning with the bases loaded and just one out.</p><p>The right-hander did allow an two-run double to the first batter he faced, Ryan Cordell, but bounced back to retire the next eight batters he faced. Lail pitched 2.2 innings of one-hit baseball, while striking out three batters. Cody Carroll struck out four over two innings.</p><p>Torres finished 2 for 5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Ford was 2 for 4 with a double and run scored. He also reached via walk. Avelino was 2 for 3 with two runs and a walk.</p><style>
