Sprong scores but just misses goal title in Pens win over Hershey

<p>Zack Zehner&#8217;s fourth-inning solo shot seemed like icing on the cake at the time.</p><p>The blast to right provided the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders a four-run lead and Jonathan Holder and Brody Koerner were cruising through the first three frames. But after the Charlotte Knights tied the game up with a three-run third inning, Zehner&#8217;s home run came at just the right time.</p><p>The left fielder&#8217;s second blast of the season provided the RailRiders (7-3) with what would be the game-winning run in a 4-3 rain-shortened five-inning game in the series finale in Charlotte (4-6).</p><p>Both Kyle Higashioka and Gleyber Torres continued their tear while in Charlotte.</p><p>Higashioka went 2-for-3 with a doubel, RBI and run scored to raise his batting average to .348 while Torres went 1-for-3 with a run scored to raise his batting average to a team-high .385.</p><p>Seven RailRiders registered hits on Sunday, with Mike Ford, Ryan McBroom, Abiatal Avelino and Rashad Crawford joining in on the fun.</p><p>Avelino scored on a double play to start a three-run third inning. Higashioka hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Ford to cap off the frame.</p><p>Zehner hit a solo home run off of House to lead off the fourth inning. It was Zehner&#8217;s second home run of the season, with both coming against the Knights.</p><p>The Knights scored three times in the bottom of the fourth off Koerner. Jose Rondon reached on an infield single and scored on a sacrifice fly from Patrick Leonard. Juan Perez hit a two-run home run to right off Koerner to cut the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre lead to one.</p><p>In the top of the sixth, rain began to fall and the game went into a delay. After a 46-minute delay, the game was ruled official and completed early.</p><p>Koerner (1-0) earned the win, working four innings and allowing three runs on four hits. House (0-2) suffered the loss after giving up four runs on seven hits over five-plus innings.</p><style>
