Volunteer counselors participate in an extensive training program and can assist with presentations at various organizations and health fairs and a variety of other tasks. Information, contact Jamie McIntyre, 570-822-1158, ext. 2309. </ins><ins>LUZERNE/WYOMING COUNTIES &#8212; Volunteers 55 and older in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties are needed to visit senior adults, who would like conversation and socialization. Men and women in The Senior Peer Counseling Program (SPCP) of Community Counseling Services and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) who qualify visit weekly. After completing the screening and training, Senior Peer Counselors see individuals 60 and older in their homes. People who are enthusiastic about working with older adults are trained in basic counseling and listening skills to provide this valuable service. Both volunteers and homebound seniors are welcome. There is no charge to participate. Or call the Mature Worker Program (SCSEP), sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne/Wyoming Counties, at 570-822-1159 ext. 2395 and ask for Anne Kelly to schedule an appointment. </ins>LUZERNE/WYOMING COUNTIES &#8212; The Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming counties announces the theme for this year&#8217;s Older American&#8217;s Month is &#8220;Engage At Every Age.&#8221; This year&#8217;s 51st Annual Dinner Dance will be held at Best Western Genetti&#8217;s Hotel &amp; Conference Center, 77 E. Market Street, Wilkes-Barre on May 16 from noon to 4 p.m.; with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. &#8220;This Magic Moment&#8221; is the theme for this year&#8217;s dance; the entertainment set for this gala event will be provided by &#8220;The Poets.&#8221; Dinner selections are either sliced beef tenderloin with bordelaise sauce, chicken francaise or flounder filet with crab meat with b&#233;arnaise sauce, accompanied by house salad, roasted red potatoes, glazed carrots with apples, and Boston creme cake, coffee, tea and dessert. A cash bar will also be available. Door prizes will be drawn and a grand prize presented. This year&#8217;s ticket price for the event is $29. Mother&#8217;s Day/Father&#8217;s Day dinner will be held at noon May 22 at Sands Springs Club. Trips to the Hollywood Casino will continue every fourth Thursday of each month through November. The cost is $25 per person. The price includes a $30 rebate to play and a $5 buffet voucher or 25 percent off a casual dinner. New members are welcome.WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The St. Robert Bellarmine Seniors have announced trips to the Hollywood Casino on the fourth Thursday of each month. The group will hold its Mother/Father&#8217;s Day luncheon on May 9 at R&amp;D Memories in Hanover Township. The last day for payment for the luncheon will be April 25.
