Sprint and T-Mobile agree to combine in $26.5 billion deal

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Kyle Suponcic and Tiffany Leventhal finished 1-2 overall, capturing top male and female honors in the Benjamin August Memorial 3-Mile Run on Sunday at the Jewish Community Center.</p><p>Suponcic, 27, of Pringle, ran away from the field, crossing the finish line in 16 minutes and 48 seconds.</p><p>&#8220;This was my first race of the season, so I just wanted to get a feel of just where I&#8217;m at,&#8221; said Suponcic, who ran for Misericordia University. &#8220;I had a pace in mind (5:30) going into the race. I feel I hit that over the first half of the race. I fell off that pace over the second half. So I just hung on after that.&#8221;</p><p>The cold and windy conditions &#8212; with headwinds on the way back &#8212; may have had something to do with slowing down runners over the latter part of the race.</p><p>Leventhal, 36, of Honesdale, captured top female honors with a second-place finish overall in 19:58.</p><p>&#8220;I tried to maintain an uncomfortable pace throughout the race,&#8221; joked Leventhal, who is an assistant coach for the Honesdale High School track team. &#8220;I work with the sprinters, and I try to rely on the speed I gain from working with them to help me with my own running.&#8221;</p><p>John Zawadski, 46, of Luzerne, finished third, five seconds behind Leventhal. George Dunbar, 54, of Old Forge, finished fourth, 13 seconds behind Zawadski. Rounding out the top five was Don Shearer, 50 of West Pittston, who finished 26 seconds behind Dunbar.</p><p>Shearer is the race director of the West Pittston Anthracite 4-Mile Run, which is run on the first Saturday in June.</p><p><strong>Dallas couple outstanding at Thorpe Half Marathon</strong></p><p>Just one week after pulling off overall victories in two separate area races, husband and wife Marina Martino and John Martino once again fared well, this time at the inaugural Jim Thorpe Half Marathon.</p><p>Marina captured top female honors, finishing in 1 hour, 23 minutes and 17 seconds, while John finished third overall among the men, clocking in at 1:24:14.</p><p>On April 22, Marina topped all runners &#8212; male and female &#8212; in winning the Navient Ladders &amp; Laces 5K Run and, later that morning, John won overall honors in the Max Fine Memorial 5K Run.</p><p>The inaugural race drew about 1,200 runners.</p><style>
