Serious charges dismissed in PSU frat pledge death

<p>EDWARDSVILLE &#8212; Police arrested a man twice over the weekend when he allegedly confronted an ex-girlfriend seeking the password to her cell phone.</p><p>Joseph Patrick McEvoy, 32, of South Main Street, Ashley, allegedly returned to the woman&#8217;s house after posting bail permitting his release from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on Sunday. After McEvoy&#8217;s second arrest, a district judge kept him in jail.</p><p>According to the criminal complaints:</p><p>Police investigated a complaint by Susan Sarin on Saturday alleging McEvoy, her ex-boyfriend, simply walked into her residence demanding her cell phone. McEvoy yelled at Sarin, grabbed her cell phone from her hand and shoved her to the floor.</p><p>Sarin pleaded with McEvoy to leave her house.</p><p>McEvoy then demanded Sarin to give him the password to the cell phone. She claimed McEvoy then forced her to place her finger on the screen to unlock the phone. Once the cell phone was unlocked, McEvoy fled the house.</p><p>Police arrested McEvoy Saturday night and charged him with burglary, theft, simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned by District Judge David Barilla in Forty Fort and jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $10,000 bail.</p><p>McEvoy was ordered by Barilla not to have any contact with Sarin if he was released on bail.</p><p>McEvoy was released from jail after posting bail on Sunday.</p><p>Police arrested McEvoy several hours after his release when he allegedly returned to Sarin&#8217;s residence demanding her password to her cell phone.</p><p>McEvoy fled the house when Sarin called police. He allegedly tossed Sarin&#8217;s cell phone under her front porch.</p><p>McEvoy was arraigned by Barilla after his arrest Sunday on charges of defiant trespass, harassment and two counts of disorderly conduct. Citing alleged violations of bail conditions imposed on Saturday, Barilla jailed McEvoy without bail.</p><style>

Man arrested twice after allegedly confronting, shoving ex
