Officer stuck with syringe during search of retail theft suspect

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; City police say they have identified the owner of the dog that attacked a 2-year-old boy at the Hollenback Dog Park on Tuesday night.</p><p>The news came via a post on the department&#8217;s Facebook page about 4 p.m. Friday. It starts by thanking &#8220;the very many of you that called in tips and information that greatly assisted in the positive identification of the owner and animals involved in the Hollenback Dog Park attack.&#8221;</p><p>Authorities did not release the owner&#8217;s name, however, saying charges are pending and more information would be posted later.</p><p>Officers added the public assistance &#8220;has helped us to order the animals quarantined by the owner.&#8221;</p><p>Hayden Davis, 2, required emergency surgery after the dog &#8212; described by witnesses as a Husky &#8212; bit into his upper right arm and tore muscles, according to mother Katelyn Davis.</p><p>Police have been looking for the dog&#8217;s owner the last few days.</p><p>Travis Pecorino, of Wilkes-Barre, was one of two men who helped the boy.</p><p>&#8220;I saw the dog tugging on his arm,&#8221; Pecorino recalled. &#8220;The dog kept pulling back and the dog&#8217;s owner did absolutely nothing.&#8221;</p><p>Hayden was at the adjacent Hollenback Park Playground when the attack occurred, his mother said. The dog park itself is an enclosed, fenced-in area.</p><p>&#8220;My son got close to the dog park and I yelled at him not to get too close,&#8221; the mother said. &#8220;He saw a dog and the dog just grabbed ahold of him.&#8221;</p><p>The boy had surgery on his arm at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and was released early Wednesday.</p><p>&#8220;He&#8217;s doing much better but in a lot of pain,&#8221; said mom Katelyn earlier this week.</p><style>
