Their view: Don’t let your credit die of neglect

<p>KINGSTON TWP. &#8212; Four members of Girl Scout Troop 30225 have used their love of dogs to create a project that will earn them a Silver Award, the second highest honor in Girl Scouts.</p><p>The project group consists of eighth-grade students Elena Burdge, Abi Lushefski, Kyleigh Motley, all of Dallas Middle School, and Vicky Smulowitz, who attends Wyoming Seminary.</p><p>They are planning a free dog-care workshop to run 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Kingston Township&#8217;s Center Street Park.</p><p>The Girl Scout Silver Award mainly focuses on giving back to the community and finding ways to improve it.</p><p>&#8220;We came up with this idea because we have worked with Blue Chip Farms before, and we all love dogs. We wanted to transfer our love of dogs to aid needs in the community, &#8221; Smulowitz said.</p><p>She said attendees will get dog-care advice from a variety of providers, including a groomer, a pet food supplier, a veterinarian, a trainer and more. She said Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge outside Dallas will bring dogs in need of rescue or adoption.</p><p>Smulowitz said the girls in the group have been in Girl Scouts since kindergarten. Their current troop began in the fall of 2009.</p><p>The Girl Scout troop leader is Dr. Stacy Smulowitz, who hosts meetings every other week at her home.</p><p>The Girl Scouts should receive their Silver Award over the summer, Smulowitz said.</p><style>
