Dylan Gearinger earned All-America honors when he finished first in the 3,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships March 9-10 in Birmingham, Ala. The Haverford junior appears on the cusp of earning another All-America certificate at the Division III Outdoor Championships May 24-26 in La Crosse, Wisc.Gearinger, a Berwick grad, stands fifth in the 5,000-meter run (14:14.68) and 14th in the 10,000 meter run (30:17.22) going into nationals. The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors.&#8220;At this point, it looks as if Dylan will skip the 10,000 and try to finish as high up as possible in the 5,000,&#8221; veteran Haverford coach Tom Donnelly said. &#8220;On the right day, I think he will be right in the mix for an All-American finish, possibly even right at the front of the field.&#8221;Gearinger captured the 5,000 (14:47.73) and the 10,000 (31:49.74) at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship on May 4-6 in Collegeville. He took the 3,000 (8:39.76) and the 5,000 (14:50.69) at the league&#8217;s indoor meet Feb. 24-25 also in Collegeville. His winning time in the Nationals was a career-best 8:16.77.First team for SkrepenakFordham&#8217;s junior outfielder Chelsea Skrepenak has been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference first team for her play with the Rams softball team which captured its sixth straight league title with a 6-4 victory over Massachusetts Sunday in the Bronx, N.Y., and travels to Baton Rouge, La., to face LSU in the NCAA Division I Regionals Saturday.Skrepenak, from Dallas (Holy Cross), led the team in hitting with a .329 average. She had 50 hits in 152 at-bats with three doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 40 runs scored and 33 RBI.Junior Maria Trivelpiece (Hazleton Area) also plays with the team and is hitting .259 (21-for-81) in 43 games and 32 starts.A first for AshbyVillanova freshman Taryn Ashby captured the javelin throw at the Big East Conference Outdoor Track Championships last Friday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Pittston Area grad bested a field of 10 when she hit 148 feet, 7 inches on her first throw of the day.Ashby competed in seven meets this spring and finished first three times. Her career best throw came in the Penn Relays on April 24-26 in Philadelphia when she had a toss of 151 feet, 5 inches.Marriggi wrapping it upSenior left-hander David Marriggi will make the final start of his career for the Towson baseball team when the Tigers host James Madison this weekend in Towson, Md. The Coughlin grad is 3-7 with a 5.09 ERA in 13 starts this season.In 74.1 innings, he&#8217;s given up 81 hits and 61 runs, 51 earned with 31 walks and a team-high 75 strikeouts. In 66 career games, Marriggi is 9-19 with five saves and has 163 strikeouts in 199 innings.Good start for TrivelpieceFreshman Megan Trivelpiece had a solid first season with the Drexel softball team. The Hazleton Area grad hit .304 (35-for-115) with five doubles, a home run, 16 runs scored and seven RBI.She served mainly as the team&#8217;s designated hitter but saw some action in the outfield and handled 28 chances without an error.A third for HawkinsLehigh freshman Madisyn Hawkins finished third in the pole vault at the Patriot League Outdoor Track Championships May 5-6 in Easton. She cleared 12 feet, 1 &#189; inches.The Coughlin grad prepped for the title meet by finishing first at the Lehigh Games April 28 in Bethlehem with an 11 foot, 11 &#190; inch effort. Hawkins&#8217; personal record is 12 feet, 7 &#189; inches recorded when she finished fifth at the Patriot outdoor championship Feb. 17-18 in Lewisburg.Kromko does her jobJunior Traci Kromko started 50 games for the Lock Haven softball team, the Bald Eagles finishing 34-18 after going 20-0 in PSAC Central play before going 2-2 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional and being eliminated 4-0 by West Chester last Saturday in Lock Haven.The Tunkhannock grad hit .241 (27-for-112) with seven doubles, 10 runs scored and 18 RBI. She played second base and made six errors on 127 chances with three double plays.Bourdeaus earn Ashe mentionJunior Nathaniela Bourdeau and her sophomore sister Tamar earned honorable mention and were among seven St. Joseph&#8217;s athletes named to the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar list. Each scholar must be a non-freshman who competes in an intercollegiate sport, maintains a GPA of at least 3.20 and is active on campus and in the community.The Coughlin grads were standout sprinters on the women&#8217;s indoor and outdoor track teams this past season.Solid season for CoffayFreshman right-hander Kristen Coffay posted a 5-7 record with a save pitching for the Pitt-Johnstown softball team.The Holy Redeemer grad had a 3.83 ERA in 15 games and 13 starts with nine complete games. She worked 76.2 innings and gave up 85 hits and 53 runs, 42 earned, with 19 walks and 54 strikeouts.Big finish for LipowskiKutztown freshman Jenna Lipowski hit .279 for the Kutztown softball team. Lipowski had three hits, a run scored and an RBI in the season finale.On April 24, the Nanticoke Area grad had two hits in a 4-2 triumph over Wilmington in New Castle, Del. She finished with 24 hits in 86 at-bats with four doubles, two home runs, five runs scored and 10 RBI.<style>
