<p>Psst. Wanna buy a used car?</p><p>If you do, Wilkes-Barre is a pretty good place to shop, according to a new analysis by a website called autolist.com. It&#8217;s a relatively new venture that promises &#8220;to make buying and selling cars something you can look forward to&#8221; through the jargon-rich notion of &#8220;a data-driven and user-centric approach to create&#8221; new ways to shop autos.</p><p>In Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre is the fifth most affordable city to buy a used vehicle right now, Autolist determined. A used car in the Diamond City will cost you $123 less than the state average.</p><p>Not bad. But if you are willing to drive 173 miles to Altoona, you can save more than three times that amount. The city that serves as gateway to the famous (for rail buffs) Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark was the most affordable place in the Keystone State to buy a used car, with prices $374 below the state average.</p><p>To round out the top five: Pittsburgh was $318 below, Philadelphia was $313 below, and Allentown was $175 below the state average.</p><p>Scranton? Fuggedaboutit. The Electric City was the 11th most affordable in the state, but it&#8217;s worse than that sounds. Used cars cost $261 <em>more</em> than the state average.</p><p>The analysis didn&#8217;t include every Pennsylvania city. None of Luzerne County&#8217;s three other cities &#8212; Pittston, Nanticoke and Hazleton &#8212; have city-level rankings. But it did compare all 67 counties in the state. Well, technically, 64 of the 67 counties. Three had no data: Cameron, Forest and Juniata counties.</p><p>Luzerne County ranked as the 15th most affordable, averaging $184 below the state rate. That was the best regional rating compared to seven neighboring counties.</p><p>In fact, only one neighboring county was below the state rate: Columbia, $42 less, ranking it at 21st statewide.</p><p>The worst place to buy a used car in this area? Wyoming County, $693 above the state average, ranking it as the 52nd most affordable county.</p><p>The best county for buying a used car? Bradford, just north of Sullivan County, where a used vehicle goes for a whopping $1,048 less than the state average.</p><p>The worst place? Pike County, right above Monroe, in 64th place.
