MOOSIC &#8212; In the end, the loss of a game could come back to bite them. But the feeling around the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders clubhouse was mutual.After playing 25 games in 26 days, Sunday&#8217;s rainout was much needed. And it showed in the box score Monday night against the Rochester Red Wings.The RailRiders broke out for a 10-3 win, scoring in the double-digits for just the third time this season and first since April 14. The impressive offensive effort was paired with a strong pitching performance from David Hale, who gave up three runs in five innings, and the bullpen to sink Rochester in the series opener.&#8220;I truthfully believe in days off. I think those are kind of like regroup days,&#8221; RailRiders first baseman Ryan McBroom said. &#8220;You can go home and just chill and get your mind off the game and kind of just regather ourselves as a team. I think the off days are huge. Whenever you can get them, take them and do something with them.&#8221;&#8220;It&#8217;s huge, especially in the middle of the summer,&#8221; RailRiders center fielder Tyler Wade added. &#8220;You give your legs a little bit of a rest and especially up top in the mental part of it.&#8221;The first inning has been rough for the RailRiders (28-33) of late, but Monday was different. They were able to string some hits together and strike first.Despite Clint Frazier flying out to center for the first out of the opening frame, the RailRiders had three straight players reach and five in the next six plate appearances.One by one they would cash in.McBroom had an RBI single. Then Abital Avelino. Bruce Caldwell made it 3-0 with his RBI double. Finally, Avelino would score on a wild pitch to cap off a four-run frame against the Red Wings (28-31).&#8220;It was good to see,&#8221; RailRiders manager Bobby Mitchell said. &#8220;We strung some hits together in the first inning. Had some two-out RBI during the game. Pitching was good. We kind of played a complete ballgame tonight.&#8221;McBroom&#8217;s addition back to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre lineup has been welcomed with open arms.Slotting in at first base and the clean-up hole with Mike Ford on the disabled list, McBroom is hitting .384 with a triple, two home runs and six RBI in his return. Monday was no different than his first two games back, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and five RBI.Aside from playing a role in the RailRiders&#8217; four-run first inning, McBroom had a three-run home run into the Rochester bullpen that broke the game open, 9-1, in the fourth inning.&#8220;With guys on base, it kind of makes it easier because you can focus on one thing and that&#8217;s getting them in to score. You don&#8217;t have a ton of things on your mind,&#8221; McBroom said. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been pretty comfortable lately because we&#8217;ve had a lot of guys on base which is huge for us as a team and I&#8217;m feeling pretty good, so I&#8217;m just trying to keep it going.&#8221;NotesRailRiders third baseman Brandon Drury made history Monday night. With a first-inning single to right, he reached base for the 32nd straight game, which is a RailRiders record. Drury has gotten aboard in every Triple-A game he&#8217;s played in this season. &#8230; Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer is expected to play with Rochester Tuesday and Wednesday. Mauer has been on the disabled list since May 19 with a cervical strain and concussion-like symptoms.
