<p>DALLAS &#8212; Northwest&#8217;s Brooke Harvey hadn&#8217;t pitched in well over a month.</p><p>It didn&#8217;t seem that way Monday at the Robert L. Dolbear/Dallas Kiwanis Club Senior All-Star Softball Game.</p><p>Harvey pitched one-hit ball over four innings and was 2-for-4 with two RBI, gaining her team&#8217;s MVP honors as the West routed the East 14-2.</p><p>&#8220;I usually play travel (softball),&#8221; Harvey said, &#8220;but this summer I decided to take it off going into college. I decided I wanted the summer getting ready for college.&#8221;</p><p>Harvey last pitched on May 25 when Northwest&#8217;s season ended with a loss to Holy Cross in the District 2 Class 2A semifinals. Well, it was sort of the last day she pitched.</p><p>&#8220;I threw one day in my basement,&#8221; Harvey said. &#8220;Other than that, no.&#8221;</p><p>It was a nice going-away present for her father and high school coach Kevin Harvey. Brooke will resume pitching in college at Penn State DuBois.</p><p>&#8220;Oh man, for me it&#8217;s way too many emotions,&#8221; Kevin Harvey said. &#8220;But for her, it&#8217;s a heck of an ending for a lot, a lot, a lot of work that doesn&#8217;t go seen. She was a seven-day a week, year-round to get to this point. It&#8217;s exciting to see her succeed.&#8221;</p><p>Wyoming Area&#8217;s Kristi Skok made a case for being the West&#8217;s MVP. She ignited a four-run first inning with a two-run double, and finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.</p><p>Nanticoke Area pitcher Miranda Bohn was named the East MVP. Although she surrendered five runs in four innings, only two were earned. She also had two of the East&#8217;s three hits, her team&#8217;s only RBI and scored a run.</p><p>Harvey started the game with a 4-0 cushion thanks to her own RBI single, Skok&#8217;s double and an RBI by Wyoming Area&#8217;s Jess Parente.</p><p>The West boosted its lead to 5-0 in the second when Dallas&#8217; Olivia Johnson reached on an error, moved to third on a double by Berwick&#8217;s Brooke Stout and scored on a wild pitch.</p><p>The West tore open the game with a seven-run fifth for a 12-0 lead. Harvey and Wyoming Valley West&#8217;s Katie Rincavage had RBI doubles and Parente and Johnson had RBI single in the inning. Dallas&#8217; Kendra Saba and Berwick&#8217;s Kylie Levan also had RBI.</p><p>Although the West led 12-0 after five innings, the 10-run rule wasn&#8217;t used and the teams played two more innings.
