Lawyer: Charges against Stormy Daniels dismissed

<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; State Sen. John Yudichak announced Thursday that Hazleton and West Pittston have received grant funding under PennDOT&#8217;s Green Light-Go program.</p><p>Hazleton will receive $180,030 for complete modernization of the traffic signal at the intersection of Church Street (Route 309) and Fifth Street.</p><p>West Pittston will receive $460,647 for complete modernization of two traffic signals at Wyoming Avenue (Route 11) and Luzerne Avenue and Route 11 and Montgomery Avenue.</p><p>&#8220;The projects being funded in Hazleton and West Pittston Borough, through PennDOT&#8217;s Green Light-Go program, will result in improved safety for both drivers and pedestrians in these two heavily traveled areas of Luzerne County,&#8221; said Yudichak, D-Plymouth Township.</p><p>In Hazleton, a recent study showed over 12,500 vehicles and 120 pedestrians used the intersection of Church and Fifth streets in 12-hour weekday period.</p><p>&#8220;This funding is essential for us to bring the traffic signal up to current design standards in order to effectively serve the needs of motorists and pedestrians that travel along this busy intersection in a safe and efficient manner,&#8221; said Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat.</p><p>In West Pittston, the funding will be used to replace two existing traffic signals that have antiquated equipment.</p><p>&#8220;We have numerous businesses, churches, restaurants and a school in the area of these two traffic signals, and the funding is necessary for the safety of vehicles and pedestrians,&#8221; said West Pittston Mayor Tom Blaskiewicz.</p><p>Gov. Tom Wolf announced that 70 municipalities will receive more than $31 million in Green Light-Go grants to support traffic signal upgrades.</p><p>&#8220;This is the fourth round of funding disbursed to support increased safety and mobility across more Pennsylvania towns,&#8221; Wolf said in a press release. &#8220;The Green Light-Go program addresses mechanisms that if not functioning properly can aggravate congestion and impede traffic flow.&#8221;</p><p>Yudichak worked with Rep. Tarah Toohil, R-Butler Township, and Rep. Aaron Kaufer, R-Kingston, to secure funding for these projects.</p><style>
