Dominick Zangardi and Scott Egbert had three hits each as Back Mountain defeated Kingston/Forty Fort 13-3 in four innings Saturday to win the District 31 8-10 Baseball championship.Zangardi also scored twice and pitched all four innings with four strikeouts. Egbert added a pair of runs.Owen Stretanski was also big at the plate with a double and single while scoring three times. Andrew Chapple singled and scored three runs.Also getting hits for Back Mountain were Brady Youngblood, Will Jenkins, Alex Seymour, Andrew Mathis and Peyton Vanvalkberg.Billy Bell, Evan Harchar and Devonte Rivers had two hits each for KKF.Back Mountain will play in the Section 5 tournament beginning Monday.Mountain Top 6, Plains 1Connor Wagaman picked up the pitching win and added a hit at the plate as Mountain Top won the District 16 8-9-10 baseball championship.Jaden Shedlick, Chase Galella and Jack Hodges all had two hits in the win.Alex Hufford had a hit and drove home the lone run for Plains.Mountain Top will advance to host the Section 5 tourney, starting Monday at Mountain Top.9-10-11 BaseballTownship Baseball 20, Archbald 7, 4 inningsAiden Lynn picked up the victory and was one of six Township batters to collect multiple hits as Township moved on in the Section 5 tournament.Along with Lynn, Preston Rusyn, Drew Cisney, Chris Scavo, Ryan Flaim and Brycen Martin also collected multiple hits in a winning effort.Archbald was paced by Jaden Sweeney, who had multiple hits.Township will play the loser of Back Mountain-Dunmore at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Jenkins Township LL.8-10 SOFTBALLBack Mountain 12, Wallenpaupack 4Nina Barrouk struck out 17 batters while pitching a four-hitter and stepped up to the plate with two hits as Back Mountain won the Section 5 championship.Lia Riley ripped a two-run single in the fifth inning that helped Back Mountain break the game open and Hannah Chipego and Carolyn Comitz also had two hits apiece in the victory.Back Mountain will advance to the Pennsylvana state tournament Tuesday at Christy Mathewson Field in Scranton.Emily Yatstanski had three of Wallenpaupack&#8217;s four hits.SENIOR BASEBALLHanover Area 5, Hollidaysburg 4Garrett Schiel delivered the winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning as Hanover Area rebounded from a 10-0 loss to Mountoursville in the winner&#8217;s bracket final Friday to advance to the championship round of the Little League Senior baseball state tournament.The victory sent Hanover Area into a rematch with Mountoursville at 1 p.m. Sunday at Showers Field in DuBois. Hanover Area would have to beat undefeated Montoursville twice to win the state title.Justin Stefanowicz ripped a two-out RBI double to tie the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning, setting up Schiel&#8217;s winning hit.Augie George and Jamie Cunard both singled and drove home runs for Hanover Area.Hanover Area starter Hunter Thompson held Hollidaydaysburg to six hits over 4 2/3 innings and Kevin Polanco and Nathan Jaslar finished up the victory.<style>
