A watchful eye: Yankees’ Kevin Reese visits RailRiders

<p>David Hale, who signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees on May 19, is in his first season with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. After originally signing a minor league contract with the Yankees in the offseason, the 30-year-old starting pitcher made 11 starts for the RailRiders, which was good for a 3-2 record and 4.20 ERA. Hale made three appearances for the Yankees this season, a registered a 2.53 ERA in 10.2 innings. The right-hander signed with the Hanwha Eagles, of the Korea Baseball Organization, earlier this month and will make $500,000 for the rest of the season.</p><p>Here&#8217;s eight things you might not know about the former RailRiders right-hander:</p><p>1. I have one brother and one sister. My sister is a physical therapist and my brother is a petroleum engineer.</p><p>2. I met my wife in high school.</p><p>3. My favorite thing to do is scuba dive. My wife and I spent a week living on a boat, diving in the Great Barrier Reef in 2015 for our honeymoon. Last year we did a 12-day trip through Raja Ampat, Indonesia.</p><p>4. The first two offseason in pro ball, for me, were spent back at Princeton finishing my degree (operational research and financial engineering &#8230; don&#8217;t ask me what it means).</p><p>5. I live in a house that was built in 1911.</p><p>6. I have a Megalodon shark tooth collection.</p><p>7. I like wood working with my dad during the offseason.</p><p>8. I have been writing a screenplay for the last five seasons with a baseball buddy. We completed the story this year and are editing now.</p><style>
