<p>HAZLETON &#8212; The Greater Hazleton Community Area New Development Organization, or CAN DO, has been approved for a $500,000 low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), a press release says.</p><p>The funding will be used toward McAdoo Industrial Park&#8217;s water storage tank, which is part of a non-community system that provides drinking water to a population of around 400.</p><p>The project will include a complete rehabilitation of the tank, as well as painting, mixer installation, installation of a safety climbing system, and installation of a lockable ladder gate.</p><p>&#8220;PENNVEST was founded to help job creators and the general public attain funding to upgrade their environmental infrastructure, in turn creating more opportunities for economic development,&#8221; said state Sen. John Yudichak, D-Plymouth Township. &#8220;CAN DO has proven time and again its ability to improve the quality of life in the Greater Hazleton area through infrastructure and economic development and this project will help it to continue its mission.&#8221;</p><p>CAN DO president Kevin O&#8217;Donnell thanked both local and state legislators for their support.</p><p>&#8220;We love working with PENNVEST and we&#8217;re obviously very pleased that this project was approved for funding. This important infrastructure project is a must for our 12 tenants and approximately 400 workers in the McAdoo Industrial Park and a must for the continued economic growth in the area,&#8221; said O&#8217;Donnell.</p><p>PENNVEST funds sewer, stormwater and drinking water projects. The organization&#8217;s funding helps to keep drinking water safe, rivers and streams clean, and provides assistance to businesses to expand operations.</p><style>
