<p>The Adult Chorus of the Choral Society of Northeast Pennsylvania, under the direction of Dr. Alan Baker, announces its performances and repertoire for the 2018-2019 season and invites all interested singers to join.</p><p>Guided by the twin mottos, &#8220;Artistry through Opportunity&#8221; and &#8220;Excellence through Education,&#8221; membership is open to any interested adult singer with per-semester tuition of $75, which includes two complimentary tickets to any society-produced program. Singers also purchase and retain their own musical scores.</p><p>Current college/university students may participate tuition-free with only their purchase of the music.</p><p>Rehearsals will begin Aug. 27 and continue from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each Monday at the Langcliffe Presbyterian Church in Avoca.</p><p>The Adult Symphonic Chorus season will open at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 at St. Stephen&#8217;s Episcopal pro-Cathedral in Wilkes-Barre with &#8220;Music Fit for a King,&#8221; a concert of anthems by Georg Friderick Handel and Henry Purcell, including Handel&#8217;s Coronation Anthem, &#8220;My Heart is Inditing&#8221; and his 21st and final Chandos Anthem, &#8220;Let God Arise.&#8221;</p><p>Purcell selections will include his famous &#8220;Bell Anthem,&#8221; the verse anthem &#8220;O Give Thanks&#8221; and the full anthem, &#8220;O Lord, How Long Wilt Thou Be Angry?&#8221; The chorus will be joined by a quintet of soloists and a small Baroque instrumental ensemble of strings, oboes and organ.</p><p>The fall continues with two collaborative programs. The Symphonic Chorus will join with the Choral Society&#8217;s five children and youth choirs at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 to present classic holiday fare in its annual &#8220;Christmas with the Choral Society&#8221; at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Finally, the chorus will join with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and conductor Melisse Brunet in renewing the orchestra&#8217;s annual &#8220;Home for the Holidays&#8221; concerts Saturday, Dec. 15 in Scranton&#8217;s Peoples Security Bank Theater and Sunday, Dec. 1 in Wilkes-Barre&#8217;s Kirby Center.</p><p>For additional information or to schedule a registration appointment for a child, contact the program&#8217;s director Frank Jones at 570-906-1830 or fjones217@gmail.com.</p><style>
