PITTSTON — A Pittston man was arraigned Wednesday for terrorizing his girlfriend, with one incident involving their infant son being injured by broken glass, according to authorities.

Austin Garrity, 23, was involved in domestic disputes with the woman at her Winter Street residence May 3 and Aug. 7, police report. The infant was injured during the May incident, officers said.

According to criminal complaints:

Police responded to the residence May 3 for a domestic dispute, finding a smashed glass door and broken glass on an interior hallway floor. Police were unable to contact anyone inside but encountered a crying woman holding an infant inside a parked vehicle near the residence.

The woman told police she allowed Garrity to stay overnight.

After waking up, the woman claimed Garrity became enraged because she refused to go for cigarettes for him. The woman was leaving the residence with their infant as Garrity smashed the glass door.

The woman told police Garrity punched her in the head and put his hands around her neck when she was placing the infant in a vehicle. She claimed Garrity picked up glass and smashed it over his head, causing a shard of glass to hit the infant, who suffered a laceration to the head.

The infant was treated by emergency medical technicians.

Garrity fled after the May 3 dispute.

Police returned to the residence Aug. 7 after Garrity punched and smashed a window on the woman's vehicle because she refused to let him inside.

Garrity was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Thomas Malloy in Luzerne County Central Court on separate counts of simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, and one count each of endangering the welfare of children and disorderly conduct. He was released on $30,000 unsecured bail on the separate complaints.
